Glam up your mirror!

Bored of the same mirror frame? Want to add some spice? Then this is the perfect DIY task for you!

Step 1: Get some chart paper and cut it in the shape of your mirror. You might need to cut and paste more than one chart paper to get the shape, but that doesn’t matter since the paint should conceal that. I used rectangular pieces of chart paper to cover my mirror. I made sure my rectangles were a little smaller than the width of my mirror frame, since I wanted some wood to show.

Step 2: Now we need to give an ombre effect. Use a sponge and put the darkest paint on the edge of the paper, followed by lighter paints. Do the same from the opposite edge and leave the middle white.

Make sure you paint over a newspaper!

Add the darkest color first.

Tip: After you’ve used the lightest color, add some paint to a toothbrush and spray it at the junction of the white part and the lightest color. This will give a better ombre finish.

                    Step 3: Stick this onto your mirror and you have a renewed mirror frame!

Fabric Bracelets

Hey guys! Have you got a tshirt that’s too long for you? Well, now you can cut it up and make these beautiful bracelets with the excess fabric!

Begin by measuring approximately how long you want your top to be, and cut the excess fabric with a pair of scissors. 

Cut the bottom part of your top

After you’ve cut the excess fabric, you should have a circular piece of cloth. Cut it at the junction so that you have one long stretch of fabric.

Step 1: Take half of your fabric and cut it to a length that is a little longer than what would fit your wrist.

Step 2: Paint your fabric whatever color you want the base of the bracelet to be. This is an optional step if you already like the color of your fabric. You don’t need to be too neat with this since the base will hardly show.

Step 3: Attach a button at one end of the fabric and make a hole with scissors (or with a blade) on the other end so that you can wear the bracelet around your wrist.

Step 4: Gather any scrap metal or studs that you have. Be creative with what you use, you can even use bottle caps, pull taps from cans or paper clips. Paint these with neon colors.

Step 5: Stick these pieces onto the fabric. After I did this, I saw that I had a lot of fabric showing on my bracelet, which I didn’t like, so I used studs to cover that up.

Step 1: Cut the second half of the fabric into three parts horizontally.

Step 2: Secure all three strips of fabric with a knot.

                                    Step 3: Braid the three strips and tie a knot at the end.

       Step 4: Sew the ends of the braid together after making sure the bracelet fits your wrist.

                              Step 5: you can sew on a colorful button to hide the knots.

DIY ombre shorts

 With summer finally here, denim shorts are the go to outfits. This year, ditch plain denims and try out the ombre effect! Ombre shorts are so fun and simple to make, check out this one that I made.

Getting right into the fun DIY stuff, start with any denim jeans or shorts you have (I started with jeans). 

Step 1: Roughly cut off excess fabric from your jeans 

Step 2: Trace the shape of any other shorts that you like onto your jeans with some chalk. 

Step 4: Finally, the much awaited process of getting the ombre effect begins! Grab a pair of gloves, bleach, and a tub (or bucket) filled with water. Make sure you do the bleaching process in the open, since the bleach lets out toxic fumes. Also, doing it during the day is helpful since the sunlight accelerates the process.

After mixing your bleach with some water, dip most of the bottom portion of your shorts into the tub or bucket. You can use clips to keep your shorts in place.

Step 5: After you see the color of your shorts fading, reduce the portion of your shorts that is dipped in. This is what gives the ombre effect. Also, be cautious of over-bleaching- the final color will be a lot lighter once you wash and dry your shorts.

Step 6: Distress your shorts! There’s lots of ways of doing this: you can use a blade, scissors, sand paper, tweezers or even a nail filer (I used a nail filer and a blade). Make small cuts in your shorts and rub anything rough like sandpaper or your nail file against them. You can also use your blade to scrape the edges.

The last step is adding studs to your shorts, which is optional. I used fabric glue to stick the studs on.

                           And now you have your trendy shorts all ready to be worn this summer! :)

DIY Necklace!

Hi guys, here’s a super easy necklace I made. If you want to make your own, keep reading!

Here’s a basic list of the things that you’ll need.
Felt paper, crystals, fabric glue, tweezers, a necklace chain, a necklace whose neckline you like, scissors, and some chalk.

Okay, so let’s get started!

Step 1: With the help of chalk trace the outline of a necklace onto felt paper. Cut it out in the desired shape and make sure it fits you well along your neck.

Step 2: With the help of a compass or a needle make a hole on both ends of the felt paper so that you can string your necklace chain through. Next, put your chain through the holes.

TIP: Once you’ve strung the chain through, tape it to the back of the felt paper to make the necklace more secure. 

Step 3: Arrange your crystals on the felt paper in various ways and figure out which one you like!

Step 4: Stick the crystals on the felt paper with the help of fabric glue. (Make sure you arrange all the crystals in the exact order you want them in before actually stick them so you can get the correct placement.)
